Commencement of the two stadiums for Malawi’s soccer giants is still in pending due to delays to funding.
Though the equipment was displayed to the general public, reports indicates that the contractors are yet to receive the fundings from the government hence prompting the contractor to move the equipment from the construction sites.
In a related development, Nyasa Big Bullets and Be-Forward Wanderers supporters have threatened to take action if the president does not fulfill his promise of donating a bus to each of the teams.
On Saturday, President Peter Mutharika assured the teams that they would receive the busses by the end of the day. “Ndipereka ma bus lero lomwe” he said in vernacular.
But unfortunately neither of the teams have received the buses contrary to the pledge.
Some sports analysts have blamed politicians for politicising the game of football for political gains and most of the pledges goes unfulfilled after the elections.
The analysts wondered how it’s taking days for the bus donations as the president indicated that the buses were already there for donation.
