Mec Chair Dr. Chifundo Kachale has revealed that the DPP wrote the commission to be part of the examination of votes classified as null and void.
He however says the commission has dismissed
the complaint because MEC is only exercising its role that parties are not mandated to be part of it at this level.
According to Kachale, the arguments do not also hold any water because the results were seen by all party monitors in the centres.
He says the commission is working hard to
determine the results so as to announce the results ‘as soon as possible’.
The MEC Chairperson said the commission has finalised determination of results for Likoma, Mwanza, Chiradzulu, Mulanje, Neno and Phalombe.
The Commission has promised Stakeholders and Media for atleast between 24 and 48 hours to complete full tabulation of results.
