Health Analysts in the Country have expressed dismay over the rapid spread of Covid 19 in the Country.
They advised government to take stringent measures to overcome the pandemic that is alarmingly affecting people country.
The country has registered many deaths due to the Virus and many people are carriers country wide.
Dorothy Ngoma, former Chairperson of Nurses and Midwifes in Malawi urged government to strengthen sensitisation awareness campaigns in Sanitation, self lsolation and many other measures of combating Covid-19.
The number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Malawi is now at 1986, with 29 deaths. In the past 24 hours, the country has registered 44 new cases, no recoveries and four deaths.
According to a statement signed by presidential Taskforce co-chairperson John Phuka, the new deaths are two each from Blantyre and Lilongwe. He said of the new cases, 37 are contacts of confirmed cases and seven are imported infections.
Of the locally transmitted infections, eight are healthcare workers (six from Mzuzu, and one each from Mchinji and Nsanje), 17 were reported from Blantyre, three from Zomba, two each from Dowa and Mchinji and one each from Chitipa, Karonga, Kasungu, Mulanje, Mwanza and Mulanje.
Of the imported cases, three are from Lilongwe, and one each from Balaka, Chiradzuru, Machinga and Mzimba,” reads the statement in part.
Of the total cases, 717 are imported infections and 1196 are locally transmitted, while 73 are still under investigation.
