Transport and Public Works Minister Sidik Mia on Thursday expressed Government’s commitment to
transform the country’s transport sector through the
construction of improved road infrastructure.
Mia was speaking when he appreciated progress on
the construction of Kauma bridge in Lilongwe. Speaking in the company of his deputy Nancy
Chaola Mdoko, Mia said the Tonse Alliance-led
administration will ensure timely completion of all
infrastructural projects in the transport sector for people’s ease of access to social services.
Chief Executive Officer for the Roads Authority Engineer Emmanuel Matapa has since disclosed
construction of the 80 metre long bridge will be complete by December this year.
Government is funding the construction of Kauma bridge to the tune of K470 million. The bridge will connect Lilongwe city center to Lilongwe city south west constituency.
