The Supreme Court of Appeal has adjourned to Monday hearing of an inter-partes submission on an application by lawyer for Former President Peter Mutharika’s security aide Norman Chisale for the court to grant an injunction stopping the state from further arrests.
Chisale who is currently on remand at Maula Prison has been arrested on 3 occasions within a space of 21 days for 3 different charges of money laundering, attempted murder and murder.
This prompted his lawyer Chancy Gondwe to apply for an injunction at the high court stopping the state from any further arrests. However, the High Court dismissed the application a decision Gondwe appealed at the Supreme Court.
However the state has maintained it’s stance that it will not spare all people that abused their power and positions to manipulate tax payers money deliberately diverting them for Personal gains and purposes.
Chisale will remain in custody as the issue is till pending a fresh bail application after the inter-parte hearing.
