An 8-year old boy has died after being involved in a hit and run accident at Madisi Trading Centre in Dowa District.
The deceased has been identified as Kelvin Maxwell 8,a standard 2 pupil at St Francis Private primary School from Nanseta village in the area of Traditional Aurthority Chakhaza in the district.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday September 20,2020 at around 20:00 hrs along Bowe junction at Madisi Trading Centre.
It is said that unknown driver was driving unknown vehicle from the direction of Kasungu heading Lilongwe.
Upon arrival at Madisi Trading Centre, due to speeding, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the said pedestrian who was crossing the road from right to left side of the road.
Due to the impact the minor sustained severe head injuries and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Madisi Mission Hospital.
Police are appealing to all road users to always follow road safety measures to avoid such accidents.
