The Judiciary has pleaded for more funding to cater its operations, to effectively executive justice.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Legal Affairs and good governance committee yesterday, Supreme court justice Rezina Mzikamanda and the Registrar of the High court and Supreme court Agness Patemba have told the Committee that low funding allocated to the judiciary continues to Cripple down its operations.
Registrar Patemba for example said the judiciary needs over K60 billion to properly executive its duties.
Patemba has also attributed to the delay in delivering justice in the country’s courts to low funding.
Judiciary has been allocated over K11.3 billion in 2020/2021 budget, which means the judiciary has a deficit of over K49 billion.
