A 19 year-old man identified as Mphatso Lifa of Chitala Village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district has been found dead today, September 29, 2020 after hanging himself to a mango tree.
The incident happened at Maliro Village, Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka district at around 06:00 hours.
According to the reporter, Lifa John, father to the deceased, it is alleged that the deceased wanted to go to Blantyre to stay with his grandmother.
As he asked for permission from his father, he gave him K3,000 to use as transport.
It is also alleged that the deceased later cancelled the trip and, he decided to go to his uncle at Chitala Village in the same district until today, September 29 when he was found dead after hanging himself.
Officers from Balaka Police Station and medical practitioners from Balaka District Hospital visited the scene of crime where postmortem conducted has established that death was by suffocation.
Meanwhile, police is appealing to the public not to consider suicide as a solution to end problems.
