The Ministry of Local Government has today said councils in the country will soon start receiving funds that include the District Development Fund (DDF), Constituency Development Fund(CDF) as well as Local Development Fund(LDF) based on performance as many councils are failing to manage such funds.
The minister responsible Lingson Byson Kanyama has said this in the morning during the Local Authority Performance Assessment(LAPA) and Performance -Based Grant (PBG) interface meeting with the different councils at Liwonde Hippo View lodge.
Kanyama said “as ministry we have seen and observed that there’s a lot of mismanagement of funds in different councils thereby there is a need for us to work on it and fund much to those only that they are performing highly”.
“I will never tolerate regionalism or any segregation in my works with the councils,all I need is togetherness and work together towards building this country”. Kanyama expresses.
