Finance Minister Felix Mlusu on Monday challenged Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) to start collecting K150 billion every month, against the current K90 billion. Mlusu said this when he toured Msonkho House – MRA headquarters in Blantyre.
The Minister, who was impressed with the Authority’s level of commitment to work, said Government needs more revenue “to execute various development projects without external borrowing.”
The Minister said that initiatives will be implemented to facilitate the expansion of the tax
base.
MRA’s Commissioner General John Bizwick said the Authority has the capacity to collect the proposed new tax amount every month.
