The State President of the Republic of Malawi His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera will on Friday 27th November 2020, attend the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Troika Summit of the Organ, on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, in Gaborone Botswana.
The Troika will be chaired by the Chairperson of the SADC Organ His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the republic of Botswana.
The SADC Troika Organ members are Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe as the Incumbent, Incoming and Outgoing Chair.
Dr Chakwera will attend the Troika as member of Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) Troop Contributing Countries (TCC), which includes South Africa and United Republic of Tanzania.
Other Countries attending the meeting are Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.
The meeting is expected to discuss emerging peace and security issues in the region.
The objective of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation is to promote peace and security in the region.
The Troika will be preceded by a meeting of Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO), which will take place on Thursday 26th November.
Dr Chakwera is expected to fly into Botswana on Friday and leave for Malawi the soon after the summit.
