A 15-year-old boy in Nsanje has died after drowning in Shire River. The incident happened during the night of Sunday 29th of November, 2020 at Magulugulu Village.
The deceased, Phalani Julius, was a well known epileptic patient and on the particular night, he picked a quarrel with his mother Mary Mangani for rebuking him and told to sleep outside the house alone.
This did not go well with the deceased who left the house and stood under a tree. The deceased disappeared and was nowhere to be traced until on Tuesday morning, December 1, 2020 when he was found dead in Shire River at Magulugulu Dock.
The matter was reported to police who enquired from possible witnesses who explained that the deceased allegedly said it was better for him to die than to live.
Postmortem conducted at Nsanje District Hospital established that death was due to suffocation.
The deceased hailed from Suwali Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malemia.
