Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako says there are certain “dark areas” in the provision of mobile services in some parts of the country, and that his ministry will be engaging the two service providers, TNM and Airtel on the matter.
Kazako has indicated that it is unlawful for Malawians living in areas that are bordering with other countries to be using networks from the neighbouring countries, including radio frequencies.
This, Kazako says, is also against the global regulations and as such, the ministry will be working with the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority to address the challenges.
Kazako was responding to concerns raised by different members of Parliament during the 2020/21 budget review meeting currently underway.
