Two men have been arrested in Balaka in connection to the case of theft/Vandalism of Escom property.
The two are Patrick Nasekwa of Ntiza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mabuka in Mulanje and Innocent Christopher Sungani of Chikwengwe village, Traditional Authority Mbiza in Zomba and their arrest follows the arrest of another suspect Maxwell Nasekwa of Ntidza Village Traditional Authority Mabuka in Mulanje in connection to the same.
Sungani and Nasekwa were arrested following intensive information gathering and investigations by a team of four Balaka detectives and they have voluntarily confessed to have vandalised an Escom transformer and copper wire in Ndunde in Chiladzulu.
According to information, the suspects are ex-convicts who once serve on similar offences and enquiries are still in progress to arrest the other two remaining suspects in connection to the same case.
Meanwhile, the following items have been recovered in connection to the offence, 35 Kgs of copper wire, 12 small pieces of timber which are used to climb ESCOM poles, one cable cutter which they use to cut Escom wires, one catapult and some stones for protection and one motorbike which they were using for transportation.
