Gender rights activist Barbara Banda has expressed worry with an increase in teenage pregnancies and child marriage that are leading to many girls dropping out of school.
According to Banda, lack of role models, productive activities and poverty are some of the factors fueling school dropout, early marriages and teenage pregnancies among girls in the country.
Speaking to the media Banda said girls should have role models in their lives that can share career guidance in different aspects.
She added that girls need to be under serious mentorship in order for them to acquire necessary information in their daily lives.
As one way of helping solving the problem, Banda suggested that government should introduce different activities that can help to keep the girls busy and productive.
