Police and Prison officers in Chikwawa have called on members of the general public to report any suspicious people and activities in order to make the district crime free.
According to Chikwawa Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Dickson Matemba the two security departments conducted the big walk on Wednesday 2 November, 2022, while sensitizing the community about security tips.
Speaking at Thabwa and Dyeratu trading centres, the Station Officer for Chikwawa Police Station Senior Superintendent Newton Mathanga explained to the community members that the aim of the solidarity walk was to encourage them understanding the importance of reporting criminal activities in their society.
He also assured them that the security departments will always be available to provide them with good services.
“We thought it wise to talk with you through this solidarity walk inorder to assure you that we are available all the time when you need our services,” Mathanga said.
In his reaction, Senior Superintendent Francis Kwapata of the Malawi Prison Service, said the prison as a reformatory institution, will always be professional in
keeping and reforming all convicts inorder to build a better nation.
Chikwawa Police through its department of Community Policing has been building cordial relationships with the communities through conducting different serries crime prevention like radio programs Community Policing meetings.
