Member of Parliament for Nsanje Lalanje Constituency, Gladys Ganda has hailed management of the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) for the replacement of a transformer at Phokera Health Centre which compromised operations of the health facility.
Ganda who is also Chair for the Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament said on Friday that the transformer breakdown did not only affect the health facility but also the surrounding area.
“I am thankful to ESCOM for responding to the concerns of Phokera Health Centre and the communities around,” said Ganda.
The legislator was quick to commend her constituents for exercising patience saying the replacement has taken about 8 months.
Speaking in a separate interview, Senior Group Village Headman Mnembe said he was glad to see his subjects back to light.
He hailed the power producer company for bailing out the area where the absence of electricity negativity affected the operations of many things around the area.
Ganda is the first female Parliamentrarian to win the Nsanje Lalanje under the Democratic Progresssive Party (DPP) banner.
