Police in the South East Region have arrested 11 suspects at a graveyard in Bangwe, Blantyre who wanted to attack a businessman.
South East Region Public relations officer Edward Kabango said the Police, through intelligence that was gathered, established that a group of robbers were planning to attack a business person at Bangwe before proceeding to Nsanje where they planned to rob another business person.
“The Police hid at a graveyard where the robbers agreed to meet to carry out the attack,” he said.
He said the first to be arrested was Steven Hopeson Galima, 35 from Mitengo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mchiramwera in Thyolo.
The remaining robbers were ambushed and the police managed to recover offensive weapons like axes, panga knives, crowbars, hammers and screw drivers.
Meanwhile, investigations are still underway to arrest others connected to the cases.
