FRAGMENTED DPP FIRES VUWA KAUNDA
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has expelled Nkhatabay legislator Symon Vuwa-Kaunda from the embattled party following his speech yesterday in the Lakeshore district.
Vuwa-Kaunda made a speech yesterday during a function where by Malawi President, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera was a guest of honour as he commissioned a water project in the district.
In his candid speech, Vuwa-Kaunda commended president Chakwera for his decisive and visionary leadership, which relentlessly attracted cheers from his constituents.
Nkhatabay district is among areas which has been washed with a combo of development projects under Chakwera Stewardship.
In a letter signed by DPP’s Spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba, the party says the decision to fire Vuwa-Kaunda has been arrived at by the part’s politiburo, describing his presence at Chakwera event as a gross misconduct, contrary to the article 6 (1) (v) (vii) (viii) of the DPP constitution.
In the same communication, DPP says Vuwa-Kaunda says immediately ceases to be a member of the party, forthwith.
Efforts by this publication to talk to Vuwa-Kaunda proved futile as his phone went unanswered.
But he is on record to have said DPP is now astray and lack effective leadership even before it was ousted from power by the Chakwera-led government.
More to come!
