Malawi has recorded 24 new Covid-19 cases including one who is pregnant woman bring the total number of positive coronavirus (Covid-19) cases to 393 , Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 revealed.
Speaking to journalists at BICC in Lilongwe on Thursday, Co- Chairperson- Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 Dr John Phuka said out of 24 new Covid-19 cases, 8 are based in Lilongwe. Dzaleka in Dowa and Dedza have registered 4 cases each, Nsanje seven cases and one from Salima.
Dr Phuka said one of 24 new Covid-19 cases is a pregnant woman who is currently admmited at Kamuzu Central hospital in Lilongwe.
According to Dr John Phuka, 24 new comfirmed Covid-19 cases contracted the virus through local transmission.
As of now since first three cases were recorded on April 2 2020, Malawi has recorded 393 confirmed cases including four deaths, 51 of the total cases have now recovered bring the number of active cases to 338 and Malawi has conducted 5900 Covid-19 tests.
