Former Minister of Agriculture George Chaponda has warned he will sue anyone who calls him names over his concluded maize purchase court trial.
The Mulanje South West lawmaker issued the warning after some opposition members of parliament called him names such as maizegater and Kaloswe when he stood to contribute to the SONA in the house.
According to Chaponda, it is unfortunate for people to call him such names when the courts have cleared him of wrong doing in the scandal to do with purchase of maize from Zambia.
The warning also comes weeks after the High Court
in Zomba cleared him in an appeal case of possessing K95 million in his house.
The ruling upheld an earlier judgment by the
Magistrate Court which had cleared the veteran
politician of the accusation brought before the upper
court by the Anti Corruption Bureau.
The famous Maize gate saga was committed last year while he was Minister of Agriculture and he was arrested for using dubious procurement procedure to purchase the staple food.
