In the past 24 hours, Malawi has reported 110 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths, and 167 recoveries.
The new deaths were reported from Mzuzu, Karonga
and Blantyre districts, all were male ages 50, 26 and 45 years, respectively.
This brings the total number of deaths to 11.
Of the new cases, 103 were detected from the 457 returnees from the Republic of South Africab that
arrived two-days ago through Mwanza Boarder and Kamuzu
International Airport.
“We are calling all those that
left the holding centres without receiving their test results to immediately contact their nearest District
Health Offices.
The other seven confirmed cases are as follows;
2 from Lilongwe, 2 from
Mzimba, and 1 from each of the following
districts, Dowa, Salima, and Chitipa.
The two cases from Lilongwe work are health care workers. Let me also remind those that have been found COVID-19 positive to scrictly adhere to
Isolations rules and those found negative to strictly
adhere to self-quarentine rules for 14 days. Our
health authorities are available in all the ditricts to
provide necessary support” reads a circular from the Ministry of Health.
Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 730 cases
including 11 deaths. Of these cases, 258 of the
total cases have now recovered bringing the total
number of active cases to 461.
The average age of the cases is 32 years, thebyoungest case is aged 1 year, the oldest is 78 years and 70% are male. The country has so farbconducted 10,790 COVID-19 tests in 34 COVID-19 testing site.
