The Police in Mzuzu over the Weekend arrested journalist
Collins Mtika for threatening to kill renowned lawyer
George Jivason Kadzipatike.
Mtika has been launching scathing attacks on the lawyer especially through his Facebook posts,
recent of which he branded the legal counsel a
“living Satan” and threatened to kill him.
The police have since charged Mtika with threats to
murder contrary to section 226 of the Penal Code,
intimidation contrary to section 88 of the Penal Code, criminal libel contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code.
Mtika works with Centre for Investigative Journalism
and Nyasatimes.
He is expected to appear before Mzuzu High Court for mitigation on the issue.
Details promoting the attacks by Mtika are still unclear as he was yet to be recorded a statement as we went to press .
