Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says teams
that will resume training amidst Covid-19 will be
punished according to FAM Disciplinary code.
According to a statement issued by FAM teams are not supposed to resume training up untill they’re
told to do so.
The development comes after some teams playing
in the country’s elite league commencedbtraining last week. Among punishments teams to receive is the suspension of Covid-19 relief package.
Blantyre District Director of Health and social services Gift Kawaladzira condemned the move and advised should resume sporting activities in August.
“The teams should wait after winter period to resume training because life is important and should be protected” he warned.
He further this winter cases are likely to increase due to bad cold weather conditions.
Meaning while FAM has written a memo to all teams to abide to Covid rules or face consequences for breach of agreement.
