Former Dowa District Education Manager ( DEM), Alexander Manyengo has died in a road accident while 2 others, Media Council of Malawi ( MCM) Executive Director, Moses Kaufa and another person were seriously injured, when a motor vehicle in which they were traveling in overturned in the district.
The accident happened at around 01: 45 hours at Mpumunthe area along Dzaleka Refugee camp – Dowa turn off road before reaching Mbalame primary school in the district.
According to Dowa Police Station Publicist, Sub. Inspector Gladson M’bumpha said the motor vehicle registration number MZ 4893 was being driven by Mr. Moses Kaufa, 45, of Chimasula village in the area of Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu district.
M’bumpha reported that the driver lost control o the vehicle upon reaching Mpumunthe area, from the direction of Dzaleka camp to Dowa turn off, due to excessive speeding where he failed to negotiate a sharp right bend, overturning the vehicle as a resultand.
Witnesses at the site, told Metro News that after reporting to Dowa Police, bonth the deceased and the injured were taken to Dowa district
Harry Kasiya, 53, of the same village, Chimasula and Traditional Authority in Ntcheu sustained minor injuries.
Media Council of Malawi’s ( MCM) Executive Director, Moses Kaufa, is currently in stable condition at Dowa District Hospital and will be transferred to Kamuzu Central Hospital ( KCH) in Lilongwe for further treatment.
The deceased, Alexander Manyengo, 45, hails from Chingoni village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu district.
He was posted from Dowa to Lilongwe urban for the post of District Education Manager ( DEM) two months ago and was commuting to and fro Dowa for his duties.
