The High Court in Lilongwe has today expected to start hearing a case in which some concerned citizens want nullification of the May 21 2019 parliamentary and local government polls.
Upon nullification of the 2019 presidential polls by the constitutional court, some concerned citizens petitioned the court to also nullify the parliamentary and local government polls.
However, when the matter was brought before High Court Judge Ruth Chinangwa, the case was put on hold pending the Supreme Court’s ruling in the presidential elections case.
Speaking to Metro Online, Wesley Mwafulirwa lawyer representing the concerned citizens confirmed that the case returns in court today.
In their petition, the concerned citizens who include some formerbmembers of parliament want the court to nullify the results arguing the elections were done concurrently with the nullified presidential elections.
