Police in Kasungu are keeping in custody six suspects for their alleged involvement in local and foreign counterfeit currency manufacturing and distribution.

Inspector Harry Namwaza, Public Relations Officer for Kasungu Police Station says the six were arrested after investigations by Kasungu Police detectives and Reserve Bank of Malawi investigators.
In the process they have recovered 994 pieces of counterfeit notes in 100 US Dollars amounting to
99,400 US Dollars, and 320,000 Kwacha in 2,000 kwacha notes, all bearing same serial number AT4426785.
