President Ramaphosa has ordered defence minister to have his salary transferred to Solidarity Fund (Covid19 fund) for the next three months for using state resources to fly to Zimbabwe on party matters.
Ramaphosa has also ordered ANC to pay all the costs it spent on the trip.
The genesis of the matter is that ANC had agreed to meet its liberation sister ZANU-PF in Zimbabwe to discuss matters that surround Zimbabwe’s current state. The trip was purely meant for ANC delegations as party members and not the nation. While ANC sponsored all the traveling logistics defence minister released a military (South Africa National Defence Force) jet to fly ANC delegations which the opposition parties and many citizens became furious with since it was not a national delegation hence abuse of state resources by the ruling party.
Ramaphosa pleaded with the opposition and citizens to give him a chance to act on the matter since he didn’t know that despite ANC having funded the trip state resources were used by the ANC delegations that went to Zimbabwe.
After investigations were conducted it was learnt that it was the defence minister who abused his office by releasing a military jet hence the president has punished him directly and punished ANC for sending it’s delegations on public sponsorship.
