The Machinga District Community Development office has been hailed for striving to empower youths in different technical courses.
The Machinga CD office in conjunction with the ministry of youth conducted a 3 day training for youth in Traditional Authority Ntumbwinda that aimed at equipping them with different skills including tailoring that will help them to earn a living and depend themselves and refrain from malpractices.
Enless Nthubula is one of the beneficiary of the training given and acknowledges the development.
“As a youth in first place I had no knowledge on how to run a business to be successful but with the coming of this training I believe i will handle my business very well to produce good fruits” she explains with gratitude.
“And in the process this will help us as youngsters to relay on our own and will be able to raise good families”Nthubula.
To his part the TIGONJETSE youth club chairperson Shalid Ishmael says the development has come in time as the area is facing a lot of malpractices by youths of which he believes are due to unemployment rate in the area.
“This will help us to reduce the rate of early pregnancies and spread of the STIs that has engulfed our area as many youths will be busy doing what they have been trained here today” .Says Ishmael.
Chimwemwe Ketulo the facilitator for the training from Machinga CD office says it was a good experience to have youths in numbers participating in the training.
“Our expectation is to have the youths using the skills learnt here and develop their communities as they choose viable businesses to indulge in” Ketulo said.
