Minister of Tourism Michael Usi says the sector has been heavily affected by the Covid19 pandemic.
According to Usi, the effect largely came as a result of the closure of borders. He made the remarks as the ministry is currently holding capacity building and skills development trainings for micro small and medium enterprises.
He has since expressed optimism that as international borders are opening, the tourism sector
will now be able to assist in national economy as it were. He has also urged stakeholders to join hands in reviving the sector.
Meanwhile, a Tourism expert, Dr Peter Jere says there is a need to reckon that the sector holds a
very big impact in improving a nation’s economy.
