The department of Climate change and meteorological services says it has detected the development of another Tropical Cyclone named “Eloise” in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar.
According to Jolamu Nkhokwe, Director of the department of climate change and meteorological services says the cyclone came to life in the Indian Ocean on 17th January and as of yesterday it strengthed with pressure value of 993 moving westwards towards Madagascar.
Nkhokwe has told Metro Online that there are indications, Eloise will crossing over Madagascar from today and into Mozambique water chanels tommoww, 20th January.
The cyclone is therefore expected to continue moving down the water channel and land on Mozambican soils on 23rd January.
With these movements, the inter Tropical convergence Zone and Congo air masses will strengthen and therefore Malawi will experience widespread heavy rains.
