United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has asked government to quickly solicitate COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
In a short statement posted on his Facebook page today, Muluzi said Malawi needs to urgently plan for vaccinations. Adding that COVID-19 cases are quickly escalating in the country.
He has since appealed to government to plan and think about the vaccination and that he is ready to help.
Reads part of the statement: “We need an urgent plan for Vaccinations.
With the COVID-19 situation quickly escalating, I appeal to Government that please let us make sure that we are ahead of the game in terms of planning and thinking.
“Now is the time that we must pull together all our collective networks and have a plan and roadmap for COVID-19 vaccinations. We stand ready to help.”
Differing with Muluzi’s assertions UDF’s alliance partner DPP warned government against rushing to access the Covid 19 vaccine saying it was a way of endangering people’s lives.
Through the Party’s spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira warned government that there were so many complications surrounding the vaccines I’m countries that were accessing them and warned the Malawi government from signing and indemnity with a certain vaccine manufacturing company from the United States of America (USA).
