Machinga police station is keeping in custody four suspects in connection to the murder of police officer Laudon Bizani of Mposa police unit who died after being hit by a minibus registration number BT 3826 at Mposa Trading center on 13th July this year.
Assistant public relations officer for Eastern region police headquarters, Tionge Kayenda has identified the four as Gift Kaombe 18, from Katete village traditional authority Malamia in Zomba, Okrani Dickson 24 from Mulipa Village T/A Nsanama in Machinga, Limbani Chipengule Kauze village T/A Sitola Machinga and William Saizi 22 from Masambuka village T/A Malamia in Zomba district.
Kayenda told Mtunthama FM the four were arrested two days ago.
According to Kayenda, during the night of 13 July 2021 at Mposa trading center the deceased inspector Laudon Bizani ordered the minibus to stop in order to conduct a search after noticing that the minibus was carrying bags of charcoal believed to have been originated from protected areas and according to her the driver refused and hit the officer who died on the spot.
“Indeed we have arrested four suspects in connection to the murder of our fellow officer .They will soon appear before court to answer charges of murder”, said Kayenda.
The lateLaudon Bizani was until his death an inspector of police at Mposa police unit under Machinga police station.
