Social analysts in the country have accused the crime busting body the Anti Corruption Bureu ACB for staging arrests without proper evidence on cases.
The accusations comes in the wake of more corruption arrests which ends in cases disappearing without continuity.
One of the country’s social media commentators Chiza Mkandawire has accused Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma for staging the fake arrests.
Mkandawire confesses that Malawians overrated Chizuma for the position at ACB that she is incompetence to handle the office diligently.
The accusation comes after ACB on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 arrested former Minister of Finance in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government Mwanamvekha over allegations that he abused his office by arbitrarily approving US$18,374,460 to Ministry of Homeland Security for the unlawful procurement of Uniforms and Equipment for Malawi Prison Service.
Mwanamvekha was charged with abuse of office and neglect of official duties contrary to section 25 B [1] and 121 of the Corrupt Practices Act and Penal Code respectively.
Oflate the bureu is accused of piling up cases where no serious convictions were made a vie which is looked to as a waste of time since most of these convicted are left scot free by the end of the day.
