The Blantyre Water Board and Blantyre City Council have unveiled plans to conduct a massive upgrade of the water network and sewage system plants in order to enhance quality water and sanitation services in the city.
The Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Robert Hanjahanja told journalists in Blantyre on Thursday that they are currently working on possibilities to partner with the World Bank to implement the multi-billion-kwacha initiative.
The Council’s Director of Planning, Costly Chanza, believes the rehabilitation of sewage system plants and extension of sewage pipes will assist to improve sanitation in low-income areas.
