Outgoing Castel Malawi Managing Director Herve Milhade has lamented corruption, lack of regard for the citizenry by those in authority and heavy taxes as some of the main constraints to private sector growth in Malawi.
Milhade, who has been in the country for four years, will be heading to Ethiopia to work for the same company and is being replaced by Thomas Reynaud locally.
He believes that Malawi has all the potential to be rich, only if leaders put the interests of the country ahead of their personal benefit.
The coming of Milhande saw Castel Malawi moving from a loss making position to profits.
He reintroduced Sobo squash and brought to the market Castel Beer, Booster ciders, Dopel Munich and rebranded Kuchekuche beer.
